Sentencing Alternatives

Many charges carry mandatory terms in jai. This does not mean, however, that a person sentenced to a mandatory period of incarceration must always serve that "mandatory sentence" in a jail facility.

There are many alternatives that can and should be explored. It is always our goal to help our clients avoid actual jail time. The alternatives to jail may include work furlough, electronic home monitoring, sheriffs work program, or serving the sentence while in a residential treatment program.

Sentencing alternatives differ from county to county and case by case. It is necessary to properly evaluate a case to determine is sentencing alternatives are obtainable.
